Four countries in one week! We left Budapest just before storm Boris hit, skirted Lake Balaton to Croatia where we spent a night by the Drava River, drove through Slovenia from east to northwest, and arrived in Italy for the weekend…

Monumental capital…
After a few more days in Slovakia, we continued our journey south to Hungary and its spectacular capital, Budapest. Two days (re)discovering the city and filling our eyes and memory with incredible images of the city’s amazing buildings, during the day and by night…

Back in the mountains!…
Another week in southern Poland, discovering Krakow before crossing the border and entering the 15th country of our journey: Slovakia!… We are back in the mountains with the impressive Tatra massif, and have also climbed our first peak on this side of Europe…

Great Plains…
One week following the eastern border of Poland until we got close to one of the border crossings with Ukraine. We discovered the primary forests and the European bisons, and also the Great Plains of Central Europe and their endless fields……

The Baltic Way…
After an amazing weekend in Karosta and its fortifications, we spent this week crossing Lithuania diagonally to the east and discovering this peculiar country and its stormy history, before settling down near the border with Belarus to rest before the next stage…

Shadows of the past…
Last few days in Estonia before moving on to Latvia, where the Scandinavian influence seems to be coming to an end. This week, we have explored the past with our pass through Russia and very visible remains of the Soviet era all over Latvia. It is a change of scenery, but it is equally incredible to be able to still explore “the shadows of the past”…

Back on the coast…
A week wandering on the west coast of Estonia, along the Baltic Sea. For a change from the mainland, we “hopped” to the island of Saaremaa before continuing our journey south.…

Across the Gulf…
This week, we left Finland and entered Estonia with two “urban” stops, one on each side of the Gulf of Finland. We are now on the southern side of the Baltic Sea, back on the mainland after all this time in Scandinavia…
